Good Grief Ya'll!

So, Saturday morning I was enjoying some peace and quiet, coffee cup in hand, and enjoying a nice stroll through blog land. I was looking at this blog (go check out her Infinity scarf, gorgeous and she has a tutorial) when I saw my blog name on the side bar. Right under my name are the words "1 month ago". WHAT? That can't be right! I haven't blogged in over a month?!?  Bad Blogger, Bad! No excuses, I have got to do better than this!

Well, lets see, what have we been up to. Last time I wrote I was off on a vacay. We had a wonderful time at the beach, the weather was absolutely perfect, the girls and my Mom had a great stress free time. I love to watch the sunrises over the ocean. We began the September beach trips many years ago to take my MaMa Murry to see the sunrise on the ocean for her birthday, which would have been September 7th. It was bittersweet to see this sunrise, she passed away in March of this year. I think this is the prettiest one I have seen yet.

I got to see some friends who moved to Myrtle Beach a few years ago, and their children. I photographed their wedding 10 years ago, and while at the beach I photographed her Daughters Senior pictures. Here she is ready to take on the world.

This past Saturday we went to a birthday party for a very special lady.

This is my Great-Aunt Aline with her family. Happy 90th Birthday!

A couple of sweet little guys had birthdays recently also.

Caden Jacob turned one on September 20th. I introduced him in this post.

Thomas turned one on September 29th. Here was his debut on here.

Let me introduce you to Thomas' new little brother, Brayden.

Yes, Thomas and Brayden are less than a year apart. To be exact 21 days from being a year apart. Their Mother, my cousin Heather, would be very appreciative of any prayers ya'll would like to send up for her. :-)

Brayden was born on September 8th. The day after what would have been our MaMa's 90th birthday.

I think I will stop here. I have been up the last two nights with a sick 6 year old, sore throat, coughing, and fever. She has a doctor appointment at 2 this afternoon. We are hoping its not strep.

Cheating and it is starting to feel good!

Hello all! I promise I am still here just haven't been posty lately. I have been working on some hookey goodies but as the title hints to I have been cheating also. I am sorry dear precious hooks of mine but I have been cheating on you with (whispers) Knitting Needles. I have wanted to learn how to Knit for some time and have tried to knit a few times but never could get the hang of it. Well thanks to YouTube I am learning. So far I have knitted a poncho for an American Girl Doll.

This is a little Granny Stripe Blankey I made for an American Girl doll. It matches Caroline's Granny Square Afghan. It is for her doll but I have a picture of Maranda with it. I don't know why.

The next picture is of my Seester and her new Husband. They got married this past week. Congratulations Misty and Kevin,  I want to wish you a lifetime of Love and Happiness together. Love Ya'll!!

And this is me (in red) and my Seester after the ceremony. We have been the bestest of friends for almost 20 years now. We met while we were in High School and I dated her brother. That didn't last but our friendship has stood the tests of time. Whenever we are out shopping together it never fails that some stranger asks us if we are sisters. We just tell everyone "Yes but we have different Mom's and Dad's." Most of the time we get "Well ya'll look so much alike, I knew you were sisters." OK!

Note to self: NEVER get glasses that tint in the sun again, and DIET starts today!!

So what else has been going on around here.........

Caroline had H1N1 (swine flu) last week and we were all put on Tamiflu. I kept Maranda out of school Thursday and Friday just in case. One minute Caroline would be literally bouncing off the walls and furniture, the next laying out on the floor. She is starting to feel better finally.

I took my car in this last week to be repaired and the mechanic called 5 minutes ago to let me know it needs a new gas tank. It's only going to cost $668.00. Only!  Ha!  I guess it could be worse.

I snuck out to Hobby Lobby today. Walked out with $56.00 worth of yarn and plans for a new Granny Square Afghan. This one will be mine. I got the idea from an afghan on Flickr. Here it is. I love Cottage45's use of color in this one, and her other ones.

Well I guess that's got us caught up for now. Got to go deliver a disc of wedding pictures and go play with the two Boston Terriers Misty inherited with the marriage. I love Boston Terriers, I got one a couple of years ago for my girls. Abbie Grace was a special dog, and by special I mean she had some issues. I seriously think she was the result of imbreeding. She ran out the door one morning while we were leaving for school and ran right into the road. You can piece the picture together from there. I miss her so much and would love to have another B T soon.

Winner! And a Giveaway!!

First off let me just say yeah, I know I am a slacker! I haven't posted on over a week. However I am planning to make up for that. This past week has been a little crazy with sickly children, work, babysitting, work, home, work. You get the point. I love my job teaching Preschool but this time of year is CRAZY!!

I want to show off one little thing first!

I kept this little one Friday night. This is Caden, he is mentioned in a previous post. He is growing so fast. Don't you just love that crooked little grin!

Now onto hookey things. Last week Pammy Sue over at Scottys-Place had a give away and guess who won! That's right ME!

My girls love this and thought it was neat that you can cover a tissue box. (And Pammy Sue, the word "Fugly" hasn't come up at all!) It has actually came in handy with the little runny noses around here this week. Now they are finding other things around the house that I can make covers for. I drew the line at a cover for the television! Ha!

So I thought that since I won, that I would have a giveaway!

What A Day!!!

Don't you just love the kind of days that are nonstop. Get up, get daughter dressed and out the door for school, get self and other daughter dressed and out the door for work. Work, work, work, get daughter from school, clean out the girls bedroom. Go to a class for work, come home, give baths, do homework, clean kitchen, and living room. Finally at 10pm I get to eat supper. Whew! Now I need a nap, but my mind is still thinking of things to do. Ugh, its going to be a long night. This is my life, I love it, and wouldn't have it any other way.
 

I have a few things on the hook. I am making Queen Anne's Lace scarves and chap stick holder key rings for the 7 ladies I work with. I have one completed and another halfway done. I will post pics when they are all completed. I am also making my brother and sister-in-law an event plaid afghan with their wedding date in the colors used in the wedding.

I just learned we are under a tornado watch until 4am! Say a prayer for us that this just passes over. I think its time to call it a night. Hopefully..........

Have You Thanked A Veteran Today?

I want to take a minute to Thank all of the Veterans who served our Country so willingly and bravely. I am very proud to be the Granddaughter of two WWII veterans.

My paternal Grandfather served in the U S Navy. When asked if he remembered exactly what he was doing when he learned the war was over he would respond. "I was in the laundry of the ship when an announcement came over the speaker system that the war was over. I never saw that laundry again!" So THANK YOU Papa Bud! Even though you passed away many years ago, you will always be a Hero of mine.

My maternal Grandfather enlisted in the Army and was discharged from the Air Force. He was in Germany during the war and saw alot of action. He would tell all us Grandchildren stories of his time while in the Service. My Grandaddy had Alzheimers the past few years, and in his mind he was back in Germany during the war. Papa passed away last year in May, and I know now his war is finally over. So THANK YOU Papa Melvin, you will always be a Hero of mine.

I wish I had pictures of them uploaded to show. I will make a point to get that done, and add them when I do. I do have someone to show you.

This is my Marine. Micheal is my cousin, who after some pretty rough teenage years, decided to enlist in the United States Marine Corp. Micheal was 20 years old, had a son who was 2 years old, and worked a dead end job to provide. Micheal enlisted in the Marines in 2007. He is currently stationed at Camp Legune in North Carolina. We are thrilled that he is stationed so close to home, only 3 hours away. I am so proud of the man that he has become during his enlistment.

This is Brooke, a very proud Marine Wife. She found out she was expecting their first child about a month after Micheal left for Basic Training.

This is a very proud me with Micheal. Don't you love those watery eyes and red nose in this picture. It was a very emotional time for me to watch Micheals graduation from Basic Training.

This is my parents with Micheal. Our Grandfather, Bud, passed away 6 years before Micheal was born. My Dad has always been PaPa Gene to Micheal and his sister Nikki. This graduation was one of the few times that I have seen my Daddy cry. He is so proud of Micheal just as we are all.

So to all the Veterans of all the Armed Forces past, present, and to the future service men and women I Thank You!  I am able to live in the Land Of The Free, Because Of  YOU The Brave!
